A figure first drawn in 2020, returned to six years later as a heavy physical object. The original proportions remain while the support carries stain, paint, scraping, abrasion, oil, pastel, and the evidence of its own construction.

The drawing survived.
The support began as a solid reclaimed wood pallet. It was sanded, stained, covered with red spray and house paint, then scraped back with a stucco spatula until the wood reappeared. The exposed perimeter was finished with dark walnut stain, turning the support itself into the frame.
The 2020 drawing was transferred without correcting away its long nose, oversized hat, tense eye, cigarette, or exaggerated beard. Oil paint and oil pastel add depth selectively while the red ground remains the skin.
